Where to check each answer for yourself

MYTH.You need to read dozens of pages to check an offer.

FACT.A few official pages answer most questions about approval, licences, pharmacies and Medicare. Each one below says which question it answers.

Pick the question you have. Open the page listed for it. Look for the date on the page, because rules and prices change.

For the product itself

As of September 2026, the FDA record showed approved semaglutide products under the Ozempic, Rybelsus and Wegovy names.

As of September 2026, the same record showed no approved generic that could be marketed.

To find out whether a product is approved, use the FDA’s approval record. To find out what it is approved for and what warnings apply, read its label.

For the care around the product

As of September 2026, telehealth rules varied by state.

As of September 2026, the state medical boards’ model rules said the doctor needs a licence for the state where the patient is.

To check a doctor’s licence, search your state medical board’s website; it shows whether the licence is current and any public discipline. To know what a careful online visit looks like, read the model rules from the state medical boards.

For compounding and payment

As of September 2026, compounded drugs were not FDA-approved.

As of September 2026, the official national semaglutide injection shortage had ended.

For pharmacy-mixed medicines, the FDA’s compounding pages give the federal rules. For Medicare, use the pages of CMS, the federal agency that runs Medicare. Any price you read may have changed, so check it again on the seller’s own page before you compare.
